The Trauma Service provides care to patients who have been injured by a physical force, most often as a consequence of motor vehicle crashes, falls, drowning, gun shots, fire, stabbings, or blunt assault. Care includes the immediate or life saving measures, and addressing long term needs such as discharge planning, placement of nutrition support devices, and coordinating appropriate physical rehabilitation. The Trauma Service also serves as a coordinating service throughout a patients recovery to ensure that all injuries are addressed, they consult specialty teams such as Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology and others as needed. Elisha joined the Trauma Service at University of Utah Hospital in 2012. She was board certified in 2008 where she completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Touro University Nevada in Las Vegas. She worked in orthopedic surgery for 2 years assisting in surgery and helping patients heal from devastating fractures, as well as education in osteoporosis preventative medicine.
