  • Wagma Mohmand completed her undergraduate in Biology and Chemistry at University of Utah in 2009. She attended the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program from May 2011 to August 2013. While in the Physician Assistant Program, she was awarded the Activism and Social Service Award in recognition of outstanding service and devotion to underserved and disadvantaged populations, the C. Hilmon Castle Founder’s Fund Award for clinical excellence and practice, and the William M. Wilson Underserved Areas Award for Physician Assistant students who desire to practice in underserved settings. She was also a student speaker at the School of Medicine Commencement Ceremony in 2013.

    After graduation Wagma volunteered at the Maliheh Free Clinic, providing primary care to patients from lower socio-economic status'. She also worked at University of Utah Neurocritical Care prior to starting at University of Utah Redwood Health Center. Wagma was the director and co-founder of a non-profit humanitarian organization called United in Service for Humanity from 2009-2018. It was aimed to help the underserved with both non-medical and medical needs. She provides workshops on cultural competency to healthcare professionals to bridge the gap of inequalitiy in healthcare. Her goal is to help all individuals have better access to quality healthcare. Wagma also delivers preventative health workshops and lectures to underserved populations in the Salt Lake Valley.

    Wagma has also been awarded the 2018 Human Rights Award by the Salt Lake Mayor's office, the 2019 Humanitarian PA award by UAPA, and the 2019 Preceptor of the Year award by Utah AHEC.

    Wagma is currently focusing on her Women and Children's Clinic for the underserved population at the University of Utah Redwood Health Center. She acts as a preceptor to both NP and PA students who want to focus on immigrant/refugee health.

    I wish there was enough Wagmas to go around, if all of my care meetings across different divisions had someone like Wagma as a provider, Healthcare would be so easy and less intimidating or scary. Wagma takes extra care and is intentional in all she does and I cannot express my gratitude enough.

    Words cannot express how grateful and thankful I am for Wagma, she has been one of the greatest providers I've ever had. She validates my concerns, listen actively, never makes me feel like I'm taking up her time and often times lifts many burdens from me, it's refreshing to have a provider like her.
