Dr. Anderson is a faculty member at the University of Utah Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in surgical solutions for degenerative diseases and deformities of the hip and knee including osteoarthritis, AVN, Perthes, SCFE, FAI and hip dysplasia. He performs minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery including anterior hip replacement (including bikini incision for women) and partial knee replacements (patellofemoral and unicompartment arthroplasty). He has clinical and research interest in kinematic alignment and medial pivot total knee arthroplasty. He also specializes in complex revision surgery for failed total hip and total knee arthroplasty as well as fractures adjacent to hip and knee replacements. Hip preservation surgeries are an additional area of surgical expertise for Dr. Anderson including PAO (periacetabular osteotomy) for dysplasia, hip osteotomies, and surgical dislocation and mini-open anterior debridement surgeries for FAI (femoroacetabular impingement) and other hip deformities.

Dr. Anderson graduated from medical school and completed his orthopedics residency at the University of Utah. He did additional training in arthroplasty of the hip and knee and hip preservation at OrthoCarolinas Hip and Knee Fellowship in Charlotte, North Carolina. He spent two years in private practice in North Idaho before returning to the University of Utah. Dr. Anderson enjoys research and training residents, fellows and medical students in orthopedics and hip and knee reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Anderson is from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, playing racquet sports, as well as hiking, skiing, biking and climbing in the mountains. He is currently seeing patients at the University Orthopaedic and the University South Jordan Clinic, Primary Children's Hospital, as well as serving our veterans at the VA Hospital.

Compared to other doctors I have seen elsewhere, the level of concern showed by the UofU staff was exemplary. I was most impressed by their concern for any pain that I have and its impact on my activities versus only what the x-ray images revealed.

This was my six week follow up visit. It was good news and I felt better when I left that day. Dr. Anderson showed me my x-rays and encouraged me to continue with my Outpatient Physical Therapy and to increase my visits to 3 to 4 times a week. He answered my questions and my visit today was much better than my first visit. Thank you for today's much needed visit.

He did say that his colleague may be willing to do surgery for the labral tears and that I may still have pain after arthroscopic repair. He would not talk about my lax ligamentum Teres Femoris, hamstring and gluteus minimus tendonopothies and the fact I can not walk without pain. My gait is not normal.
