Smitha Warrier, MD, FASA

  • Dr. Warrier is a board-certified anesthesiologist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology. In addition to her clinical work in the operating room, Dr. Warrier is a member of the Acute Pain Team. She is focused on providing each patient with an exceptional care experience during the perioperative period.

    Dr. Warrier received her MD from Louisiana State University in 2004. She began her training in Otolaryngology at LSU, but her residency was disrupted by Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Warrier then focused her career on Anesthesiology in 2007 and completed residency at the University of Utah in 2010. She went on to complete her fellowship in Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesia at the University of Utah in 2011. Dr. Warrier has been on faculty at the University of Utah since 2011.

    Dr. Warrier has held leadership roles such as the Acute Pain Fellowship Director, Anesthesia Director at the Farmington Health Center, Anesthesia Director of the Area E operating rooms, and currently serves as the Chief Surgical Operations Officer for University of Utah Health. She also has a passion for addressing sustainability in health care and serves as the Medical Director of Environmental and Social Sustainability for U of U Health. Dr. Warrier has held external leadership roles as a past President of the Utah Society of Anesthesiologists, and currently serves on multiple national committees as well on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
