Bio

Joy English, MD, is a member of the Sports Medicine Division and the Medical Director of the Orthopedic Injury Clinic within the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah. During her daytime clinics, Dr. English enjoys providing care for patients with a variety of athletic conditions and spends a portion of her time performing both fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures. She plays a role in the education of residents, fellows, and faculty in the area of musculoskeletal ultrasound. In the evenings, Dr. English cares for patients of all ages in the Orthopaedic Injury Clinic at the University Orthopaedic Center which serves as an after-hours walk-in clinic providing care for patients with acute musculoskeletal injuries.

Academic Bio

Dr. English attended Rush Medical College of Rush University where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class. She then pursued residency training in Emergency Medicine at Washington University in Saint Louis where she later served as a Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. English completed fellowships in both Emergency Ultrasound and Primary Care Sports Medicine. Dr. English is Board Ceritifed in Emergency Medicine and in Primary Care Sports Medicine. She also holds certifications in Abdominal and Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography from the American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography. Prior to accepting the faculty position at the University of Utah, Dr. English served as the director of a newly implemented Orthopedic Injury Clinic at Washington University in Saint Louis in the Department of Orthopaedics.
