Bio

Dr. Colonna specializes in Acute Care Surgery which is composed of Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. His clinical practice includes the University Hospital SICU, Huntsman Cancer Institute ICU, the VAMC SICU, and the University Trauma and Emergency Surgery (UTES) service. Dr. Colonna also has a General Surgery Clinic focused on basic general surgical pathology.

Academic Bio

Dr. Colonna received his undergraduate degree from Emory University. He completed his MD at the Medical University of South Carolina. East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN was the location for his General Surgery Residency. Dr. Colonna also completed an Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at Wake Forest University. During his two years in Winston-Salem, NC he completed and ACGME accredited year in Surgical Critical Care and an Acute Care Surgery year that focused on Emergency General Surgery with additional rotations in Interventional Radiology, Trauma Orthopedics, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Minimally Invasive surgery. Dr. Colonna's research interests include pulmonary contusion, blunt cardiac injury, and emergency general surgery.
