Following medical school at the McGovern School of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center, he completed General Surgery residency at the University of Utah which included two years of dedicated research time. He then completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota.

    Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time in the mountains with his wife and two dogs. They enjoy trail running, skate-skiing, canyoneering, camping, and fishing.
