  • Laura Johnson is a nurse practitioner at the University of Utah Farmington clinic within the division of Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology specializing in diagnosing and treating general GI concerns such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), among others.

Laura has been in healthcare for over 15 years but began her nursing career in 2011, working primarily in women’s health and pediatrics. In her time at Primary Children's Hospital, she worked as a circulator in the endoscopy department where she gained a fundamental background in procedural GI care. Seeing a need for better outpatient education and coordination of care helped push her to advance her own knowledge and skills by pursuing further education. She graduated from Chamberlain University in Chicago, Illinois with her master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner studies in 2020.

Laura is passionate about educating, empowering and engaging her patients in their health journey. As a member of the American College of Gastroenterologists, she attends annual classes and conferences to continue learning and keep up with current evidence-based care standards. When not caring for her patients at the University of Utah, she enjoys traveling around the U.S. and the world, kayaking, playing pickleball and working in her yard and garden. She is an avid baseball fan as well and tries to catch as many games in person as she can. Go Dodgers!

First visit was great. Follow up was not so much. I felt dismissed and this visit served no purpose to my current symptoms. One diagnosis was the causation of another. I don¿t see why the two can¿t be treated together.

Dr. Johnson is such a great doctor. She explained how to take my medication. I've been taking it incorrectly. Since her directions, the pain I have been having has been reduced! She is wonderful!
