John Erikson Yap, MD, MBA

  • Dr. John Erikson Yap, MD, MBA, is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where he served an additional year as Chief Medical Resident, followed by a Gastroenterology Fellowship at the same institution. He later joined the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, serving as Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology fellowship. In 2022, the American College of Physicians' Georgia Chapter recognized him as the Outstanding Early Career Physician, an honor reflecting his leadership and commitment to academic medicine.

    In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Yap holds an MBA and is currently pursuing an MHA to enhance his expertise in healthcare leadership and advocacy. He is board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and obesity medicine, and actively serves on committees for several professional associations. Dr. Yap’s career reflects his steadfast commitment to clinical excellence, medical education, and leadership in healthcare.
