Candace C. Chang, MD, MPH

  • Candace Chang received her B.S. Chemistry from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), M.D. from University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and M.P.H. from Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her anesthesiology residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. After several years of private practice in Massachusetts and Nevada, she joined the faculty at University of Utah and is currently an associate professor (clinical).

    Dr. Chang is Director of Non-Operating Room Anesthesia for the University of Utah Health system, overseeing Anesthesiology's clinical collaboration with radiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, cardiology, dentistry, psychiatry, radiation oncology, reproductive endocrinology, and other specialties.

    She is Director of Global Engagement for the Department of Anesthesiology. Her international work is mostly focused on building health care capacity through teaching and improving patient safety in The Gambia. Dr. Chang is also an instructor for the Anesthesiology department's Center for Patient Simulation, teaching courses for medical students, anesthesia residents, and MOCA for board certified anesthesiologists.

    Outside of work, she enjoys traveling the world and exploring nature with her family. She speaks conversational Spanish.
