  • Dr. Shawar is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Utah. She received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and completed her pediatric residency at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at University of Nevada in Las Vegas. She then practiced as a pediatrician at Variety Care in Oklahoma City, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) providing care for underserved populations, and as a pediatric hospitalist at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health prior to completing her pediatric endocrinology and postdoctoral research fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine affiliated with Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

    She provides care for youth with a variety of endocrinopathies including but not limited to growth, puberty, thyroid and adrenal disorders as well as diabetes mellitus with a keen interest in pediatric metabolic bone disorders. She strives to the provide the most comprehensive and compassionate care to every child she encounters.
