Clinical profile
Mina Awadallah, MD, MSc, is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Awadallah earned his medical degree from the University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine in Egypt before relocating to the United States for further training. He completed his internal medicine residency at Florida Atlantic University, after which he served the medical needs of the South Florida community, solidifying his commitment to a career in hepatology. Dr. Awadallah completed his advanced hepatology and transplant hepatology fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and currently he is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Awadallah is dedicated to caring for patients at all stages of liver disease and values the long-term relationships he builds with them. His areas of particular focus include alcohol-associated liver disease, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, viral hepatitis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is especially passionate about providing care for patients awaiting liver transplants and those who have recently received them.

Mina Awadallah, MD, MSc, is a researcher and hepatologist at the University of Utah School of Medicine. After completing his internal medicine residency at Florida Atlantic University, he continued his commitment to community health in South Florida before pursuing advanced training. During his time in South Florida, Dr. Awadallah undertook a clinical research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. John Rivas at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and earned a Master’s degree in Clinical and Translational Research from George Washington University School of Medicine, aiming to bridge patient care with innovative research. He subsequently completed his advanced hepatology and transplant hepatology fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
His research focuses on chronic liver disease, particularly examining outcomes related to liver disease, liver cancer, and liver transplantation.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Awadallah enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and participating in sports. He is a native Arabic speaker and fluent in the language.
