  • Dr. Hersh is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases and holds the Andrew Pavia Endowed Chair for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Hersh received a Bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College, and Doctoral and Medical degrees at Dartmouth Medical School. He completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Stanford University and trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hersh is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society where he has also served as a Board Member. Dr. Hersh mentors trainees and faculty through the University of Utah Vice President’s Clinical and Translational Research Scholar Program. Dr. Hersh’s research interests include antimicrobial stewardship, clinical epidemiology and health services research. His work focuses on understanding variability in the use of antimicrobials and developing interventions to improve the quality and safety of antimicrobial prescribing. His research program has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
