  • Dr. Hersh received a bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College, and his doctoral and medical degrees at Dartmouth Medical School. He trained in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2015, he became Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Hersh is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. He also serves as Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training program. Additionally, Dr. Hersh mentors through the University of Utah Vice President’s Clinical and Translational (VPCAT) Research Scholar Program. Dr. Hersh’s research interests include health services research and clinical epidemiology. His work focuses on understanding variability in the use of antimicrobials in pediatrics and developing interventions to improve the quality and safety of antimicrobial prescribing for children. His research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
