Generated via Patient Reviews
The patient rating score is an average of all responses on our patient experience survey. The rating averages scores for all questions about care from our providers. The scale on which responses are measured is 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.
Patient comments are gathered from our patient experience survey and displayed in their entirety. For the convenience of our visitors, some patient comments have been translated from their original language into English while preserving their original meaning as accurately as possible. Patients are de-identified for confidentiality and patient privacy.

He is incredibly loving, kind, sensitive and caring and all of his compassionate characteristics combined with hi brilliance and exceptional skills make him the most outstanding doctor by whom I have ever been so blessed to have been cared for. Dr vitale he his a very nice person always helping me for what I need esp for my medication very easy to talk to
I appreciate that Dr Vitale is a great doctor. I just need him to listen to my issues. I rarely get the chance to ask a question or discuss decisions that he makes, especially if I have a problem that I wish we could work on together. It doesnt feel like a collaborative way to solve problems. I wish my opinion mattered. Its impossible to reach the doctor if there is a problem. I only get transferred from one staff person to the next.
He really cares. Checks on you and makes you feel comfortable. Plus he is excellent in his field. Trust him completely.
My highest recommendation for his intelligence, medical knowledge and bedside manner.

Dr. Vitale and Technician Shawn are the best!!
The iodine used to cleanse my eye causes me severe, long lasting, stinging pain. The assistant was sympathetic, and took pains to completely wash it out which avoided the day long pain I have come to expect. This was a major improvement!
dr. Vitale is extremely knowledgeable, proficient, and thorough in his examination and plan of care.
Although appointments have felt routine, it sometimes is helpful to receive explanations for certain treatment approaches, or for why an issue may be occurring. Can sometimes feel like I'm just another number being pumped through the system.

very satisfied
the whole team is amazing and especially Dr Vitale
so happy to have Dr Vitale and his staff
All of the nurses I worked with were very helpful and even provided detailed explanations to my questions. I didnt deal with the doctors PA on my most recent visit but she is great, seems really knowledgeable and personable(which is just as important). The doctor seems knowledgeable but he doesn't seem as personable or care about your questions nearly as much as he should.
I feel that if I ask questions at all they are ignored. I never get any explanation of treatment or problems. I've stopped trying.
because the staff were busy, running behind in the procedures, a float nurse was attempting to get me started on the procedure getting me ready for Dr. Vitale, and that this was the second injection in my eye there wasn't any real discussion of anything pre-procedurally. The people preparing me for the injection I've already commented on that. The person the man taking pictures of my guy, it was a different modality picture showing a different angle or aspect to the eye. He knew the difference in what the reading pertain to. For me the pictures from the first procedure were easier for me to identify and follow the train of thought. The changes, visualizing where the problem was and were the injection was supposed to treat my eye. Hurry call this man from years past taking pictures. He's extremely knowledgeable and has worked there many years. This man was Thorough taking the pictures needed, yet just as busy as all the other staff members trying to accommodate all the cares that needed to be done for all the patients that day. he referred me to have Dr. Vitale explain it. as soon as injection was done, Dr. Vitale stood to leave the room, and when I told the nurse not to rub my eye, he stated we have to rub it to clean it. Then I responded it was more of the pressure applied to the eyeball. And Dr. Vitale exited the room so perhaps next appointment it's early in the morning at the beginning of the day. I hope we will be able to have time for Dr. Vitale to give me a summary of the condition of my eye. If these injections are helping my eye condition. Is the goal to help my eye, save my vision, is the goal being accomplished. Are the injections working and doing what they're supposed to do. can Dr. Vitale see any benefit and progress? and plan of care for future.
Dr. Vitale is amazing
I was not asked if I had any questions or concerns. Altho I did not, it's nice to be asked. Everyone was very respectful.
I didn't understand why they spent so much time staring in my dilated eyes with a bright light. It was not adequately explained to me what was going on and why. I ended up with a very bad headache.
staff is great
I was out scheduling my next appt and he added a couple more tests, but I didn't really know what they were for. (pictures of my eye and a chest CT scan)

I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again. Dr Vitale is probably the best dr the university of Utah has. I have visions of him being my primary care physician, my hematologist, my OBGYN, my endocrinologist. He is passionate, thorough, compassionate, he doesn't beat around the bush and because he's human he'll sometimes make a mistake and misprint or forget something but he always owns it. I love dr. vitale!! he's super funny too lol. great man!!
