Dr. Somers genuinely takes the time to get to know her patients and understand what's happening in their lives. She is approachable and easy to talk to, and her team is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I was especially impressed that they were able to draw my blood right in the exam room, so I didn't have to go to the lab or wait around. It made the whole experience much more convenient and efficient.

The reason I was coming in had me feeling pretty venerable. Im a new mom and so many things have changed with my body after having my baby, andi was feeling a little confused where to start. I opted to schedule with Dr. Somers because I hadnt seen her in awhile and knew shed be a good starting point, even if I needed to be referred into a specialist. The second Dr. Somers came in the room she immediately lowered my anxiety! She was willing to listen, validated my feelings, reassured me what was happening was normal and immediately took action. Listened and addressed all concerns great care
I was a mess during my appointment. Without help I almost never sleep. It's horrible in a way I can't describe but Dr Somers summoned it up, sleep deprivation is how pow's are tortured. It's highly effective. Anyways we came up with a solution, but keep in mind I also have other mental heath issues so any solution it very complicated. She put me at ease, she listened to everything I had to say, which must have been difficult because I was running on about 5-6 hours of TOTAL sleep over the past three weeks. I couldn't think or express myself coherently. She was patient, kind and empathetic. I was embarrassed because I sounded like a crazy person but Dr Somers, just like always, treated me with dignity and respect, She's been my family Dr. For about ten years and even though I have mental health issues she treats me just like everyone else with normal problems like I'm just some guy with say a broken leg instead of a scary crazy person who isn't fixable and will always be more trouble then I'm worth because mental issues can't be fixed. That's rare in my experience and knowing She will help however possible is the only thing that has kept me going when things have been truly dark. The last two nights I was able to get about 5 hours of sleep each night, (Awesome) between that and the depression medication she put me on early this summer I have had the best two days I can remember. I'm not supper happy or manic but I spent the last two days on longs hikes with my son and was able to enjoy them in a way I never have. I was wonderful. Thanks for employing a world class doctor like Dr Somers.

Your website talks about the nature of medical care being part science and part art which is true. The problem is that most logic driven science type minds are not artistic and the same can be said about most artistic brains not always being very logic driven. My point is that Dr. Somers gets a 9.6 on a 1-10 scale on the science side and the unattainable 11.00 on the art side. A truly rare combination. Like all her patients I'm So glad she became a doctor. Dr. Somers is the most wonderful human being I have ever met. I absolutely love her, she is so empathetic and wonderful. If every Dr. was like Dr. Somers the world would be a much better place.

Dr. Somers is great and didn't make me feel rushed, despite the strict time limitations on her template- seeing patients every 15 minutes for primary care isn't a very realistic or sustainable expectation for providers. I timed Dr. Somer's pap smear- exactly 2 min 30 seconds which was with me asking questions- very impressive. Total visit was 14 minutes 32 seconds.(I timed based on discussion with colleagues). She is very efficient, but this pace is not sustainable long term. Dr. Somer's is absolutely wonderful.

Dr.Somers is an amazing doctor, she does her work so well, she has sympathy for you and always goes above and beyond to do what she has to do to make sure your taken care of. my doctors team is always very nice and helpful. however I just can't enough about doctors sumors. my mother and sister go to her and both always told me how great she is and that she actually listens and cares to help. it took me years to finally break down and try her because I've never had a doctor that has even come close to her and not either trying to just tell me nothing is wrong or give me something that ends up not helping because they wouldn't listen. she sees so many people through out the day and you would never know because she makes you feel like it's all about you not getting to the next room. my only wish is that I would have listened to my mother and sister earlier because they where right she does care it's hard to find that now days. the whole team is great. thanks so much.

Dr. Sommers is the best doctor in Utah! If you haven't given her a ride, you need to do it ASAP. She is the key to University Utah Health's SUCCESS. Dr. Sommers is the nicest and caring doctor I have ever met. When I was told (from friends) I may not have her as a provider because she is always booked-now I understand why she is so busy! She is perfect! She doesn't act as provider that sees patients and prescribes medication but she is a doctor who truly cares how her patients feel physically and emotionally. She did not want to end the conversation until she understood how I felt about my diagnosis, plan, and treatment. She walked me through each step in the process and clearly explained how she came to the result. After I hung up, I knew what would happen after the appointment. Also, I was able to schedule an appointment immediately after showing no progression. There is no waiting or excuses at University of Utah health to see a provider, Dr. Sommers is an example of why it's the best clinic and hospital in the state. I highly recommend Dr. Sommers and the University of Utah Health to all my friends and family.
