  • Alyssa Erickson-Wayman, APRN, FNP-C is currently a board-certified nurse practitioner in the Division of Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Alyssa specializes in the treatment of melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, and immune-related adverse events caused by immunotherapy for cancer.

Alyssa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biotechnology from Santa Clara University in 2010, then went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University in Washington in 2016. In her first year of practice, she participated in a fellowship program in primary care at Community Healthcare Network in New York City, then continued there to solidify her skills in this multifaceted and diverse setting. After practicing Internal Medicine at Virginia Mason in Seattle, WA for two years, she moved on to the cutaneous medical oncology clinic at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT. Alyssa works heavily with Dr. Siwen Hu-Lieskovan and her phase 1 immunotherapy clinical trial program, as well as two other melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers specialists, Dr. Joanne Jeter and Dr. Jeffrey Russell.

Alyssa loves being a nurse practitioner in oncology as she enjoys taking on new challenges and learning opportunities in the service of her patients. She feels it is a privilege to be allowed into each of her patients’ lives—especially when she is working with them during one of the hardest times of their lives. Alyssa is thrilled to be part of the melanoma team, where there is a strong sense of community, and patients are always the priority. When Alyssa is not helping patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute, you might find her running, biking, hiking or skiing on the mountains behind the hospital and beyond. She is a transplant to Salt Lake City, but feels like she has found her home in the mountains.
