  • Dr. Anna Ibele is currently a Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Medicine from the Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Following this, she completed a surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin and a fellowship in Complex Minimally Invasive Foregut and Bariatric Surgery at Indiana University. Dr. Ibele was in clinical practice at Geisinger Medical Center, a high-volume bariatric and complex esophageal surgery center in Danville, Pennsylvania, prior to being recruited to join the faculty at the University of Utah.

    Dr. Ibele's clinical interests include the surgical and endoscopic management of obesity and gastroesophageal reflux disease with an emphasis on minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. She specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity, treatment of disorders of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, and gallbladder, and also performs minimally invasive repair of hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, and groin hernias. She currently offers clinical services to patients at University Hospital and South Jordan Health Center and endoscopic procedures at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
