Bryan Lohse, PT, DPT has been practicing at the University of Utah Health since 2012. Bryan was one of the first therapists dedicated to the cardiovascular ICU and has since been involved in teaching, research, and lecturing about early mobility in the cardiovascular patient population. Bryan is the advanced practice specialist for ventricular assist devices (VADs). This includes providing education and annual competencies to all therapists on the critical care team and inpatient rehab, attending weekly heart failure rounds, and being the liaison between the medical and therapy teams for all things related to mechanical support devices and our heart failure patients. Bryan has been involved in publishing several manuscripts related to the value physical therapy can provide to critically ill patients, and is passionate about educating other therapists how to mobilize patients on various life support devices. He has presented at several local and national conferences on these topics, and assists with educating students during clinical observations and rotations.
