I was terrified about being diagnosed with stage 3 PCa. I did tons of research in an effort to find the best of the best to perform my nerve sparing RP surgery. I interviewed multiple (also very qualified and experienced) urologists during my due diligence process. But Dr. Dechet and, frankly, his entire team (Jeffery Linton, Lauren, and his RNs) impressed me with their dedication to excellence and exceptional professional competence. I was already scheduled for surgery with another very good SLC area Urologist and wanted to meet with Dr. Dechet just to be sure I was going to get the best outcome. After meeting with Dr. Dechet, I cancelled with the other urologist because I could not pass up on Dechet's best in class abilities and team. My outcome was better than expected. He is the best
We stayed at the hospital overnight. It was remarkable how the staff showed great care and compassion for their patients. Dr Dechet and all of the staff in the Urology Department are also superp. He is a great surgeon and doctor. He shows a great interest in the well being of his patients. All of his staff and all of the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute are the greatest.

Chris treated me very well. He allowed me to make decisions on my care. When I thought it was time to remove my Prostate, although he felt we could wait a little longer, he proceeded with the surgery. His thought to wait was based on my well-being and not a schedule. His experience with Prostate cancer caused him to remove some lymph nodes he felt were suspect and in pathology, they came back positive. It's now been 4-1/2 years without any PSA indicators that the cancer is present and his experience and decision to remove the lymph nodes was absolutely correct.

Dr Dechet is very thorough and answers any question with care and complete understanding of the care needed.
Did not explain in detail what the biopsy report indicated. Did not explain the Gleason score in detail and how it compared the PSA results. Did not explain Intraductal carcinoma or cribriform pattern 4. I basically felt like he was treating me as if I did not know anything about the condition I have. He did not explain the focal therapies available.
Dr. Dechet was thorough with a great bedside manner and explained everything well.

Dr. Dechet explained my surgical procedure to me so clearly in our initial telemed session that I was fully informed of what to expect in terms of post operataion conditions I would face. Our first in person visit we talked of common interersts that had nothing to do with the procedure but this created a bit of a relationship that meant a lot.

Dr. Dechet was kind and helped put me at ease about my cancer. I arrived at his office with a lot of anxiety about, and left feeling like 100 pounds had been lifted off my shoulders. Dr. Dechet explained what the next steps were and how we were going to stay on top of things. He gave me phone numbers for his team who works with him and told me to call with any questions or concerns that come up. However that being said lm aware he is a busy man and the assistants that I do interact with are both courteous and professional and explain things so I can understand. So I rate Dr Dechet with a 10 because the healthcare workers i do speak to are chosen by him and are very professional. He listened to us and worked with us to come up with a treatment plan that worked for our schedules. He was clear and direct about how a prostatectomy will affect our lives. He was clear about the surgery recovery process emphasizing the need to move but not move too much. I am 4 days out of surgery and feel great; I feel very lucky to be under his care.

Given how busy he is and how many patients he sees I can understand his desire to move quickly from one appointment to another. While I appreciate he sees these cases every day I would have appreciated a little more explanation about the specific of the procedure and what to expect post-op.
