He is the best
We stayed at the hospital overnight. It was remarkable how the staff showed great care and compassion for their patients. Dr Dechet and all of the staff in the Urology Department are also superp. He is a great surgeon and doctor. He shows a great interest in the well being of his patients. All of his staff and all of the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute are the greatest.

Dr Dechet took a challenging event in my life and handled it with professionalism, skill and sincere care. He is rightfully proud of his team's efficiency and expertise. The My chart system allowed efficient and responsive communication which was such a contrast to the frustrating lack of response from providers in our past. Chris treated me very well. He allowed me to make decisions on my care. When I thought it was time to remove my Prostate, although he felt we could wait a little longer, he proceeded with the surgery. His thought to wait was based on my well-being and not a schedule. His experience with Prostate cancer caused him to remove some lymph nodes he felt were suspect and in pathology, they came back positive. It's now been 4-1/2 years without any PSA indicators that the cancer is present and his experience and decision to remove the lymph nodes was absolutely correct.

Dr Dechet is very thorough and answers any question with care and complete understanding of the care needed.
Did not explain in detail what the biopsy report indicated. Did not explain the Gleason score in detail and how it compared the PSA results. Did not explain Intraductal carcinoma or cribriform pattern 4. I basically felt like he was treating me as if I did not know anything about the condition I have. He did not explain the focal therapies available.
Dr. Dechet was thorough with a great bedside manner and explained everything well.

Dr. Dechet explained my surgical procedure to me so clearly in our initial telemed session that I was fully informed of what to expect in terms of post operataion conditions I would face. Our first in person visit we talked of common interersts that had nothing to do with the procedure but this created a bit of a relationship that meant a lot.

When having surgery the most important thing is to have a surgeon that is highly skilled and very experienced. He is one of the most experienced surgeons in the west. I live near Las Vegas and could of had my prostatectomy with many doctors there and quit a few hospitals there. I am not impressed with my past experiences at hospitals in Las Vegas. It was well worth while to drive to Salt Lake City at the Huntsman Cancer institute and have the procedure done with doctor Dechet one of the best surgeons.

It has been a year since Dr Dechet removed my Prostate because of Prostate cancer. The recovery was relatively easy and I have had four follow up blood tests since the surgery that have all indicated no signs of cancer. Dr Dechet and I feel he got all the cancer and we are very hopeful it never comes back.

Dr Dechet was very good. No issues and very patient and explained care well. The issue is such. He said I was to be call for a follow up appointment in a couple of days but both times I needed to call and advocate for my next appointment. As of this time I was to receive a follow up call and still have not received one and it has been nearly two weeks .
My virtual meeting was with Erika Farr this time, She was very thorough in her explanations and answers to my questions.

My only concern is that I had to fly to salt lake for appts and they would never guarantee a morning appt so I could catch a decent return flight

I had a great doctor in the IHC system. My insurance changed and I have had to change most of my medical care team. Dr. Dechet was clear. He won't be seeing me unless my condition is confirmed to be much worse than reported. I will only see PAs. If a biopsy is required, it will be done by a PA. If I need help with symptoms, I'll need to be referred elsewhere. Honestly, kinda feels like I went from being a patient to a cog supporting a business bureaucracy.

We had some confusion about what the doctor told us and the expectations his staff had after our visit
I wanted to highly compliment Erica Farr, M.M.S., PA-C, for her professionalism; friendly, caring demeanor; and her depth of experience and knowledge. She answered every question In great detail that my wife and I had regarding the significance of biopsy & MRI results, as well as the options for treatment and surgery in light of those results. I have been in active surveillance for prostate cancer for almost 7 years, and for these last 3 years PA Farr has been attentive, concerned and understanding, in addition to being extremely competent in the new technology of MRI/Ultrasound Fusion-Guided prostate biopsy. Dr. Dechet came in after PA Farr finished this last visit. He is the consummate professional, and was very detailed In his explanation of my proposed surgery and post-surgery recovery. Dr. Dechet is certainly the physician I would have wanted along with me supervising my 7-year active surveillance odyssey of exams, blood work, traditional biopsies, MRIs, an MRI-Guided Biopsy, an MRI/Ultrasound Fusion Biopsy--and now surgery.

We visited on an extremely busy day. Dr. Dechet, and PA Erica Farr found time to visit and consult and assure my concerns were addressed. They and their team set a bar above any health care I have ever received. It is refreshing to see there are still individuals in the health care system who truly care about the patient. The same can be said for virtually any one who was involved with my care and procedures. The Huntsman and it's employees right down to the room service and custodial folks were professional and courteous at all times. The Huntsman Institute needs to be the example for all health care facilities.

We were looked after by a PA named Jeff who was great! Dr Dechet came in for a short time afterwards and he wore a mask so we couldn't see his face. The equipment he had made it harder for him to hear us where Jeff (without a mask) had not had a problem. Hence, Dr Dechet spoke most of the time with little wiggle room for us to say much.

I am a retired dentist, which I explained to your staff so it was easy for me to understand and easy for your staff to provide the consult.
