Christopher LaChapelle, MD, DPT is an assistant professor of surgery at University of Utah Health in the Department of Surgery specializing in acute burn care, reconstructive burn care surgery, and burn rehabilitation. His clinical and research interests combine his background in rehabilitation with his current practice in burn surgery to focus on patient outcomes and quality of life.

Prior to medical school, Dr. LaChapelle obtained a doctorate in physical therapy at New York University. He practiced as both primary and lead therapist in a burn center for seven years. He then attended Boston University School of Medicine and completed general surgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He obtained advanced training with a burn and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern and Parkland Burn Center in Dallas, TX where his focus included management of acute burns, as well as reconstruction and scar management.
Dr. LaChapelle was awarded the Fellow Educator of the Year from University of Texas Southwestern for 2021-2022.
When not caring for patients, Dr. LaChapelle enjoys running, skiing, and reading.
