I am very sorry to admit, but I don't remember the name of the nurse who also assisted. My experiences with Daniel Hovey have been excellent over the past two years. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his review of my specific injury. He is prudent and specific when he explains images and answers questions. In addition, Daniel Hovey is warm, trustworthy, and empathetic.

Dr Hovey,is the only doctor I trust with my back, I am old and around 2009 doctors changed. They were on time meter when they saw you every thing was$. Dr Hovey was never that way. From the first time I met him I was important. It was the way it was with the doctors I grew up with . I was referred to UofU and told if God needed a doctor this were he would go. I never felt scared I had compleat conference in doctor Hovey from the beginning .

They were personable and were genuinely interested in my long term goals for regaining function and being able to resume my active lifestyle. Not happy with my outcome but the facility and staff were exceptional. I got more answers, clarity, and honesty from this provider than I'd gotten from a Surgeon who had performed multiple surgeries on me through a different provider at a different facility. But at least I now know what's going on.

I recently saw Daniel Hovey. He referred me to Huntsman Cancer Institute for a total body bone scan to assess me for metastatic bone cancer. I was also referred to Mountain Medical for a thoracic CT Scan to assess me for lung cancer. Hearing the news that doctors were concerned enough to order these scans was shocking and terrifying. I have four kids, I'm young and otherwise healthy. Upon leaving the visit with Daniel Hovey I was handed his card and told to call him Immediately after I was done with these tests. They said I wouldn't have to wait for results, he would be able to quickly review them and discuss them with me the same day. I had the CT Scan on [DATE REMOVED] and the Total Body Bone Scan on [DATE REMOVED]. I still have heard nothing from Daniel Hovey or from anyone is his office. I have called many times and left messages and have been told that someone will call me back to discuss the results, but these promises have been unfounded. I am able to see the results in MyChart, thank God. Things look ok as far as I can tell but I have no idea what the future plan is. I have no closure. I have only silence. These past few weeks, waiting to hear back from doctors on such critical tests, have been the most excrutiating weeks of my life and have taken an incredible toll on the lives of my family too. I think the way this has been handled is completely inappropriate, considering the severity of the tests ordered. Thank you so much for listening.

Would like to speed up the process
I am having back surgery in less than two weeks. After leaving Daniel's office, I felt much better about the surgery. He softened any fears that I had about the surgery.
Dr. Hovey was excellent, listening to my concerns, explaining things I didn't understand, and generally helping me feel comfortable by providing knowledge and pleasant interaction.
I have experienced several office visits with Daniel. He is an amazing physician's assistant. It's surprising how he remembers all of the patients he deals with on a day to day basis. I have found him to be quite attentive to questions, and his answers are explained in easy to understand terminology. This is VERY rare in today's hurry you out of the office mentality. Daniel always takes the time to make sure you know how you are, and explain what needs to happen going forward. Again, This is very appreciated.

NP was not prepared well for this meeting. He did not appear to have the necessary tests to make any recommendations and was a complete waste of my time and his.
Dr. Hovey described this last ditch surgery in great detail. As long as I keep the use of my legs, I'm THRILLED not to have this last completely invasive surgery. Dr. Hovey's smile made a great deal of difference also. Luckily I wasn't in pain at my visit (strong pain rx kicked in) but we discussed the type and severity of pain when it does knock me for a loop.

Amazing experience
At first I was taking back by the provider asking me what I was there for. This is the second time this has happened to me in this department, I was more than confused since I had been referred by other physicians. When this provider stated, " I can look at these images and treat the picture, but I want to know what the person in these pictures is feeling. I treat people not the pictures or notes from other physicians." I immediately realized that I had a real medical professional that truly cared about me as a human being. I was more than grateful for the opportunity to share what I am experiencing, and not diagnosed before speaking with anyone. This is exactly how all medical professionals should respond to their patients, and I have learned through this experience to redirect their questioning in the future. After a very thorough exam and questioning, I left the office with a plan, the direct number to this physician, and a request to call him as soon as I had my tests done. I am again, overwhelmed with gratitude for the medical professionals at the University of Utah.

Care provider superbly knowledgeable and a good guy. However, to him I was just a guy with a tough problem that there was no obvious solution to. He cut me loose with no plan as to what to do. No options or suggested next steps were discussed I got the feeling I was being seen because of the referral versus any other reason.

After Emily finished her job it took the PA 19 minutes to get to the computer to begin the session. Waiting that long put me off especially when he didn't acknowledge being late. He did a good job explaining the MRI results with me, and he was forthcoming about his concerns. He did not have my current x-rays which limited the input he was able to give me.

Daniel Hovey went over every concern I had and explained it was within the normal range relative to the surgery I had and that it could take up to a year for the nerves to settle down. He also set me up with a physical therapist at the U as I haven't been able to go to the op pt I was seeing due to Covid-19.
