Don't waste your time. As a new patient to the clinic with a documented history of decades of treatment I expected a full assessment of my overall chronic degenerate pains, with all possible options of nonsurgical treatments. Instead he asked few questions did not listen to my previous treatments, or my personal medical history making my concerns seem miniscule and disregarded. When you are decades into a chronic problem you don't expect to start from square one again just because you're in a new insurance network. I am so tired of the run around just to prove that yes indeed you still have the problems that your PCP or other specialist have diagnosed you with. He may indeed be a fantastic physician, but first impressions are everything when you are looking for lifelong treatment and this was not a helpful approach to the beginning of a healing journey.

Didn't explain anything to me. Only ordered an MRI and said we'd see. He was an hour late for my appt as his priority was some Jazz Gaming guys over the average patient.

While the nurse and medical student showed a lot of concern for me and my problem, the doctor seemed much more rushed. I did not understand very well what he thought was the source of the problem. He did give me options for treatment but did not really explain the benefits or risks of each option. I deferred to him in deciding what to do. I would love to meet with that nurse and medical student again, but I did not love my experience with the doctor himself. I was already feeling embarrassed about coming in because I did not know whether my concerns were big enough to see a doctor, and I felt that the doctor's response somewhat confirmed my embarrassment. I was grateful the nurse came back in afterward to reassure me that I had done the right thing by coming in.
My doctor was very good about explaining the procedure as we went along, which helped a lot. The nurse after the procedure was very helpful and rescheduling me for another round of PRP so that I would not have to wait and try and reschedule on my own.
Felt like Dr Peyton was in a hurry to move on. Could have offered a few tips on how to reduce the inflammation before I could get in to see a PT. Fortunately I found them on the internet. His assistant was excellent and stayed after Peyton left to explain things.

Quick visit, but to the point
The doctor seemed to be in a hurry and I left the office feeling like I had somehow did something wrong by going there. He was rude, used medical terminology that I didn't understand- the assistant had to explain them to me while the doctor was sitting right next to us, he barely touched me, I asked if I could see my x-rays and he ignored me, the assistant had brought in some ace wraps when I first got there but they just took them back with them when my appointment was over, my ribs were broken but the doctor didn't tell me where, the doctor didn't look me in the face the entire time, I was given absolutely no instructions about how to care for my injury, the doctor didn't speak to me- he only spoke to his assistant and then the assistant spoke to me as if the doctor was to important to speak directly to me, the doctor didn't even greet me when he came in the room. I basically was told "you'll be fine" only the doctor had to say that to his assistant and then the assistant said it to me. It was the worst experience I've had at the U of U. I've got my health taken care of from the U of U for 40 years. I almost ALWAYS have crazy awesome providers and treatment! And I was going to Dr Petron for broken ribs and I also had a broken collarbone after a scary fall. So I was going into this appointment feeling very frightened, vulnerable and in a lot of pain. So going in there and being treated like this was awful. I'll admit that I went home in tears. That is why this review is so detailed.
My condition was not determined. An MRI is required to determine outcome and treatment.

I had a shoulder injection. About an hour later while I was driving, I was unable to move the arm more than a few inches. I called the clinic and after about an hour someone called back and took my history and reassured me that this was to be expected. I wish I had been told that at the time of the injection as it was very worrisome until it finally resolved after several hours. I would suggest advising patients of this potential adverse effect

I wish the doctor had talked to me for a bit longer. He said he would meet with me after my MRI but the MRI is scheduled a month out. So I'm not sure what my diagnosis is or what I should do in the meantime. The doctor made a passing statement to get on crutches. I wish he would have given more clear direction on what I needed to do, what he thought was wrong with me, and what the possible plans were going forward. I was left with more unknowns and it sucks because I am not going to have a follow-up appointment until the MRI.
There was a ton of information on the report from the radiologist who reviewed my MRI and I felt like the doctor didn't review much of it. Just said "you have a bulging disk and need an injection"

The Doctor dismissed me and my concerns so he told me the results of my MRI and that was it. I left without knowing the next step or my options or what to do in the meantime. He judged my appearance and had asked me a questions of which I didn't understand and so he became more rude. He didn't show any empathy and made it clear that he didn't want to have a discussion. It was one way and totally didn't even answer any questions. I made an appointment with a private practice doctor to answer my questions. I don't think I should pay for this visit. It was a complete waste of my time. He explained the results of my MRI exactly as the notes were put in MyChart by the guy who took the images.

I felt like the instructions I was given weren't clear. The doctor didn't give many and the paper of instructions seemed to be different than what he did tell me. The instructions indicated not taking certain medications. I told the assistants twice that I was taking a certain medication that ended up being on the list and nothing was said about it.

This doctor was far too important to spend time on a mere peasant like myself. He would not allow me to speak. He didn't even allow me to answer his questions; he answered them for himself. I had to speak over him while he continued to speak over me to ask about a topical muscle relaxer. He was not concerned that my muscles are spasming and much more painful than my sciatic nerve. He thought I was going to ask about an anti-inflammatory and so he told me about an otc topical nsaid while I was still asking my question and I had to just keep talking in order to actually say it. He completely steamrolled me and his assistant was completely unfazed by this as if it were very typical behavior. I did not get the chance to ask about steroid shots even though that is the reason why I made this appointment. The doctor hurriedly put me back on gabapentin which my primary took me off. He gave me a paper that has a chart for dose tapering, but he only gave me Instruction to take 1-3... So.. I guess I'm taking 3 per day. What Is the point of doctors, again?

I felt like the doctor was really in a hurry. I tried to explain the sequence of events leading up to my injury, but the doctor primarily looked at my xray, manipulated my knee, put me through a balance test and said I'll give you a shot and go to physical therapy. I was never able to explain the arc of what happened to my knee.
My only hang up was wait time. Someone could have said we are backed up. Again once I was seen by the doctor things moved along
I understand that it was buys but the doctor did seem rushed. He did not introduce me to all of the assistants that were working with him for me (there was a PT and another person) The notes in my mychart from the doctor included vitals (that were not taken) and the notes said that he had discussed a bunch of things with me that he had not. I came in looking for what was wrong in my knee and what I steps I should be taking to slow any further problems and his answer of "lose weight and see a physical therapist" did very little to address my understanding of the problem and how to treat it. Overall he just felt rushed and dismissive.
It didn't feel that there was that much interest in exploring my issue in depth. More of a cursory exam, and prescribed meds to address issue, but didn't feel like the doctor was too interested in my situation. Some light questioning as to whether I'd like to re-explore my fasciotomy and exercised induced compartment syndrome.

My provider spent 5 minutes in the room, didn't answer questions and didn't provide me with information about my next course of treatment.
I received an injection in my knee and wasn't informed that it will feel worse for about a week before it feels better. I was unable to walk the next day which made going to work a challenge (to say the least). I had to send a message in my chart about the pain and someone other than my doctor responded and said that it is normal and common to have a lot of pain for 2-7 days after an injection. I will never get another injection, especially on a Monday.

Dr. Petron was very thorough the first time I saw him. He referred me to several specialists to rule out other conditions with underlying bone health. He also confirmed I was misdiagnosed from a previous visit with a PA and made a commitment to determine the underlying cause of an unknown femur fracture. However during my follow up visit, it seemed he failed to to review outcomes all of the referrals he sent me to and told me he didn't see a need to go to physical therapy (even though he set me up with 6 PT appts in our first visit. He acted like he had never seen me before so I had to catch him up on the history again. He seemed really rushed and kept scanning notes of the PA I saw 3 months prior to seeing Dr. Petron that had misdiagnosed me. He took a scan, shrugged his shoulder and told me that arthritis won't heal itself, but in our first visit told me that I didn't have arthritis. I had to tell him the metabolic specialist had my previous MRI reinterpreted because she didn't agree with the initial interpretation, he totally missed that and asked me how to find it in epic, then finally found it and shrugged again.

I delayed seeing a doctor to the point that my condition is deemed to be not reversible. Nevertheless, I still expected to be given useful insights as to how to manage pain and future use of my foot/toe, but Dr. Petron left the examining room abruptly before I could ask questions. When I asked the notetaker, who was the last to leave the room, for more information about the medical aid Dr. Petron mentioned, I was simply told "it will be in the notes." The notes did not contain that information, however, and I had to request additional details. The additional response was generic and I still do not feel I have useful information about how and when to use it. I've seen Dr. Petron many times before for other conditions, and I had good interactions and results from all prior visits, so I would continue to recommend him as a care provider to others.
Doc Petron knows I am trying to delay surgery as long as possible and is doing all that can be done to make me comfortable in the mean time.
Dr Sarah and Dr Petron showed me respect and caring. You could certainly tell they wanted to get me better.

I felt like it was a wasted visit. This is more due to primary care sending me to a specialist that could not do anything but refer me to a surgeon. It also felt very impersonable, disinterested and distant. I have felt this from both providers I have seen at the Orthopaedic Center.

The doctor seemed like it wasn't a big deal, despite showing me that a tendon tear had occurred. He suggested I use pain as my guide. If it hurts, don't do it. Nothing was mentioned of diet, supplements, what should be doing to care for my arm or modify my life to facilitate healing. I'm hoping PT will give me a bit more info.
See earlier comment about delay to be seen. Dr. Petron agreed that the stiff shoe was appropriate and that I should continue to use it for a total of 4 weeks, but he did not initiate that aspect of my care

There wasn't any conversation about my injury. I was only told that it was showing progress and to come back at the end of the month. There was not ANY conversation about my left foot which was injured as well.

the provider was very short with me he spend 10 min with me. he didn't listen to my concerns. I told him I was having muscle pain in my calf and shooting pain from my foot to my hip since the fracture of my toe. I did have sciatic pain in the pain but the fracture of my toe and the pain in my foot was causing a flare since the fracture occurs while I was jumping in the trampoline playing soccer with my 12 year old son and we both kick the ball at the same time. my nerve and muscle pain level is very sensitive and the provider didn't acknowledge any of my concerns and said just said my toe is healing and see him as needed and walk out the room.

The Doctor seemed like he was really In a hurry. I have no idea why but I really hope the hospital doesn't over book him so he treats patients this way. Also he seemed to only look at the spine specifically and rule out sciatica. Each doctor I've seen has done similar physical tests, and seemed puzzled that they dont confirm sciatica, but then offer no proper diagnosis. Also Dr. Petron did not mention degenerative disc disease to me, but it says something about it in mychart in post visit summary. So I'm confused about that. I have to be honest, for data purposes you can apply these grades across the. board to my experience in the past year trying to diagnose my pain issues. I feel the u of u hospital has failed me abysmally. I am suffering and if it's not sciatica they dont seem to know much.

was my first visit with Dr Petron, couldn't really come up with a plan until I had an mri done.Petron also told me to take ibuprofen 800 but then never prescribed them for me or anything else for the pain. Seemed like he was more concerned for my knee than ankle and the ankle is causing the most pain
