Dr. Pettey is great, understanding, answers all my questions and does wonderful work and I have had other family members go to Dr. Pettey when they had eye issues and issues that their eye doctor couldn't get resolved, Dr. Pettey fixed their issues, nice Job.

Dr. Petty gave me information about something I had not been aware of before. I spend a lot of time outdoors and I have dry eye. I didn't know that eyedrops with antihistamines existed and I have worn glasses for 62 years. No one ever mentioned that I could have a better experience with outdoor volunteer activities up until now. I bought those eyedrops because I will be outside again tomorrow and I already started using them to be ready. What a great thing! And I enjoyed my appointment with him.

Dr. Pettey is very efficient with time during m appointments. He speaks to me in technical terms then relates it in term I was able to understand. Select Health was horrible in getting any care through IHC for my eyes.
Over the years I have felt complete confidence in decisions regarding my vision care made by Dr. Dix Pettey. It was great to have further explanation about my vision, following two cataract surgeries 16 months ago.
He did excellent job, but it took about 20 minutes for him to come in after my initial assessment was completed.

This visit took twice as long as it should have. Over 2 hours for a check up. The man doing exam seemed to be learning. 10 min with dr.
Dr. Petty has a wonderful bedside manner - friendly and professional. He explains things in clear language that's easy for a layperson to understand. He never seems rushed and welcomes questions. I was amazed at how efficiently he got me in for further testing and how quickly he diagnosed my problem and got me referred to an appropriate specialist.
Care provider did no homework or preparation for my visit despite my seeing a specialist at your center a few months earlier. He seemed very unprepared. One of my main problems is double vision. He did not address this at all until he was asked about it when he was leaving. Then he had to spend more time looking at and considering this problem. Really didn't seem to have looked at any notes from my previous visits to Moran or notes from my opthomologist from my home town. Didn't realize I had had 3 eye surgeries previously despite this being in my notes. I had to tell him this also because he seemed unaware of it and didn't know about it until I mentioned it.
Great interaction with Dr. Pettey, he listened to me, checked my eyes, and sent me home with new prescriptions and an easy way to contact him with questions.

I had no idea I could have a new prescription backed off just a hair so it isn't so powerful! I just thought I'd have to get used to it, so I never spoke up. I mentioned it to the nurse who was doing the first part and Dr. Petty saw it in the notes and brought it up. He also was very eager to give me options about the migraines I get when I look at screens for too long!
Clear and easy to understand the best alternative to go forth
The provider didn't address my question about contacts, just getting classes. And later on, after the appointment ended, I asked about it, I was asked to schedule a new appointment to be examined for contact. Wasn't sure why it wasn't done right away or at least explained why it couldn't have been done right away.

I am explained that I had a distortion in my vision which seemed to come and go. Dr Petty was right on it, checked my eye, order a procedure and found I had a cyst on my retina.

(I know it's an important part, I have seen eye doctors since I was born) just a rough time considering I couldn't work for hours after. The doctor I had however was absolutely amazing. He was so nice about explaining everything, and making sure I knew of all options. I will continue seeing him.

This was the best care I have ever received at a medical appointment. Symptoms that I have had for years that were overlooked by previous physicians were easily diagnosed within seconds at this appointment. After this one appointment and the new contacts the doctor prescribed, my vision is better than it has ever been and I can wear contacts the entire day without pain and irritation, which I never thought was possible. Additionally, the Moran Eye Center created the most welcoming, patient friendly atmosphere, from the person I checked in with, to the doctor, to the people I ordered my trial contacts with, even a random employee on the first floor who gave me directions to where I was looking for with a smile. This was the best experience I have ever had at any medical facility and I will definitely be recommending this care provider and the Moran Eye Center to others.

The assistant was all above average, friendly, compassionate, considerate, informative, thorough, just everything above.
Doctor Pettey presribed steroid eye drops which are not covered by my Medicare Rx plan. With the pharmacy's discount the price is $169. Both the pharmacy and I called Dr. Pettey's office to ask if either a different Rx could be sent in for something my insurance covers or if the process could be started to get a prior approval from the insurance. The sample bottle I was given of a similar steroid drop is running out, and It doesn't work as well as I'd like--partial relief that lasts for about 3 hours with dosing instructions of every 6 hours. My eye still bothers me quite a bit and I'm about to go ahead and pay the $169.

Maybe its because I am a nerd, but I would have liked a little more detailed discussion about what my eyes were doing. We discussed their health, but not really much about my prescription and how my vision was changing.

I saw someone before seeing Dr. Petty who Im guessing was a resident...? he didnt tell me who he was or what role he had. he just pulled me back to do the eye exam and then dr. petty came in and redid the entire eye exam. thats the one issues I have with the U of U- appts take twice as long because its a learning hospital.
