Dr. Emily Thorell received her medical degree from the University of Utah and completed her pediatric residency and pediatric infectious disease fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri. She is currently a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospital/Intermountain Children’s Health. Dr. Thorell’s clinical interests include appropriate antimicrobial use, antibiotic resistant pathogens, the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2, and Hospital Epidemiology. She serves as the Director of both the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program for Primary Children’s Hospital and the Pediatric Tele-Stewardship for Intermountain Children’s Health. She also serves as the Associate Hospital Epidemiologist for Primary Children’s.
