My son's caregiver took him to see Dr Hansen. She is always impressed with him. She usually calls me so I can hear the appt. He is well educated & very good with the patients. She has 16 disabled clients & sees many drs. We are both pleased with Dr Hansen & would recommend him to others.

Sometimes you have experiences like this and I am so glad I get to share it. So I was going through my day and I get to my appointment and was ready to just get through it without batting an eye. Erik gets done entering my information and then turns to me and kindly looks me in the eye and leans forward and asks, 'So how are you doing healthwise in your life? Truly, how are you?' He said it so kindly that it kind of caught me off guard. I proceeded to share that I was under quite a bit of stress and that my health was suffering lately. I think if the doctor would have removed his mask when talking to me (I was masked) that would have been extremely helpful. I am hard of hearing and I had to ask him several times to repeat, each time I did the more he got frustrated with me and did not try to speak louder. The nurse, she was VERY kind, she started talking louder as she could see I was having trouble hearing her.

Eric Hansen is my favorite medical provider I see. He has treated numerous different problems I've had and always takes excellent care of me. I appreciate his chair side manner and he always takes great care of my husband and I.
Always recommend
No knowledge about prior conditions or problems. All my records are on the University website. Very little conversation. No examination--He didn't touch me.. Had UTI symptoms and he run kidney tests and a culture test. He said they would call me with results on tests including the culture test to make sure he had prescribed the correct meds. No one ever called. Very disappointed.
I'm so upset with my experiences here so far and I don't know what to do about it. The communication has been so poor, I have gotten conflicting information from different health employees, the lab lost one of my samples and then when I came back they did everything incorrectly and I had to come back a third time. I asked for a psychiatrist referral in January and never heard back. Now the first appointment is October and I spent a whole month waiting for a call that never came. I don't want IU to come back here but I don't know where else I can go.
I established care with dr Hansen ,very knowledgeable and friendly and addressed all my concerns.
I wasn't told about a test that was going to happen and I am pissed.

Excellent bedside manner and knowledge. The only negative was being handed a set of crutches without any instructions on stairs. I was able to get home, but fell hard trying to figure out the stairs. I later (a fat later) received an email from the orthopedic doctor I saw for a followup with information about crutches that would have been helpful to receive at the time if crutches.

He was very nice and seemed to care on a general level, but it was almost like, "Ok, I'm listening to you to listen to you, but I don't really care." There weren't any follow-up questions to what I was talking about, but kind of an attitude of "let's get the labs ordered, you can shut up now, but I'm still going to pretend I care and listen". I felt like I talked too much even though it was my first appointment. :(

I was visit by the physician assistant first and then both the Dr and the the assistant came in together.
Provider renewed my prescriptions but did not inquire about need for them or if they were effective or if alternatives exist or would be more effective. Admittedly this is more difficult in a electronics mediated appointment.

My visit was all good
Erik Hansen carefully interpreted the lab results I had brought in (which were drawn for a life insurance application) in the context of conflicting results of recent similar tests done at the U, as well as my overall health risks. He really listened, and protected me from having even more unnecessary labs done -- he prevented a costly cascade of labs, tests, and medicine that I don't need yet. He was very transparent about how my risks are calculated, and showed my how to do this myself. Sometimes the best care is knowing when NOT to prescribe a medicine or order a test, and Erik Hansen helped me see why this was the case, with wisdom and compassion. Thank you!
