  • Dr. James Huntley, Professor (clinical), specializes in pediatric orthopaedic surgery, with fellowship training in the full spectrum of childhood orthopaedic conditions. His expertise includes treatment of children with congenital and developmental orthopaedic conditions, neuromuscular disease, cerebral palsy, clubfoot, foot/ankle conditions and fractures/injuries. He attended Oxford University, obtaining his primary degree, Master of Surgery, PhD and a Blue in Rugby League. His medical degree was from Cambridge University. His orthopaedic residency was in Edinburgh, Scotland and fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the Starship Hospital in New Zealand (2007-2008). He worked as an attending surgeon in Glasgow, Scotland for 10 years and then as part of the inception surgical team at Sidra Medicine in Qatar for 6 years. He won the prestigious American-British-Canadian Traveling Fellowship in 2012. He has >100 Pubmed-listed articles and is first or solo author on >50% of these. He is also co-author/editor of 3 major academic textbooks: Pediatric Orthopedics – an evidence-based approach to clinical questions (2017), The pediatric and adolescent hip – essentials and evidence (2019), Storytelling in Medicine: how narrative improves practice (2023). He joined the University of Utah Department of Orthopaedics in 2023 and practices through the University of Utah School of Medicine at the Primary Children's Hospital – both main and Lehi campuses. At Lehi, he has a designated clubfoot clinic (he is a published and firm advocate of the Ponseti technique), in addition to general and fracture clinics.     Dr Huntley has exceptional bedside manner with young kids. He was understanding of my two year old being fearful of the appointment and eased her fears as well as any stranger to her could have. He was also thorough in his evaluation. I appreciated the time he took to explain everything. It is obvious he puts my child's best interest above all else.

    Dr. Huntley is so amazing. He is so positive and has such a good knowledge of his practice. He helped ease so many of the worries we had for our baby's club food and his treatment seems to have been great success. He also has a really good sense of humor which lightens all our spirits.
