  • Dr. James Huntley, Professor (clinical) specializes in pediatric orthopaedic surgery, with fellowship training in the full spectrum of childhood orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Huntley’s clinical interests include the treatment of children with congenital and developmental orthopaedic conditions, neuromuscular disease, cerebral palsy, foot and ankle surgery and the acute management of fractures and injuries. He initially attended Oxford University, obtaining his primary degree, Master of Surgery, PhD and a Blue in Rugby League. He obtained his medical degree from Cambridge University. He completed his orthopaedic residency in Edinburgh, Scotland and received subspecialty training with a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the Starship Hospital in New Zealand (2007-2008). He worked as an attending surgeon in Glasgow, Scotland for 10 years, and then at Sidra Medicine in Qatar for 6 years. He won the ABC Traveling Fellowship in 2012. He was co-author and editor of 2 major academic textbooks: Pediatric Orthopaedics – an evidence-based approach to clinical questions (2017), and The pediatric and adolescent hip – essentials and evidence (2019). Dr. Huntley joined the University of Utah Department of Orthopaedics in 2023. He practices through the University of Utah School of Medicine at the Primary Children's Hospital (main campus). Dr. Huntley is excited to be joining the University of Utah Pediatric Orthopaedic Team and to provide high quality care to the pediatric population in Utah and the Intermountain West.
