Jessica L. Jones, MD, MSPH is an Associate Professor with the Division of Public Health, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah. For over 19 years, she has served as faculty in the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. She strives to fortify success for all. Throughout her career, she has focused on various domains of wellness, i.e. physical, social, intellectual and occupational. Dr. Jones loves to mentor health professionals in training as they work toward medical careers. Over the years, she has worked with medical, public health, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner students, as well as medical residents. Currently, as an urgent care provider, she is on the front line of clinical public health, and continues to teach and advise graduate public health students. As the Chair of the Department’s Resiliency & Belonging Committee, Dr. Jones works to cultivate a workplace where everyone feels that they are an integral part of the community.
She earned her MD at UCLA, MSPH in Family Medicine Faculty Development & Public Health at the University of Utah, BS at Xavier University. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Utah and interned in Family Medicine and OB/GYN at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Jessica loves being a wife, and a mom to busy 5, 7, 22 and 24 year olds. Her main outlet is Zumba (which she affectionately calls her “Zumba therapy”). Jessica is a certified Zumba instructor, leading a community group 3 days a week. She’s a cat person, whose favorite color is purple. Her favorite local getaway is to Eden, Utah, but favorite vacation spot is Hawaii!
