  • Joanna Grudziak, MD, MPH, FACS earned her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed both a General Surgery Residency and a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During a two year research fellowship in residency, she also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Health Leadership, and served as a trauma and burn research fellow at the Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lillongwe, Malawi.

    Dr. Grudziak’s clinical practice involves basic and complex trauma, general and emergency surgical diseases, including gallbladder, hernia, diverticulitis and injury care. She utilizes a variety of techniques in the care of her patients, including advanced minimally invasive robotic techniques.

    Along with her expertise in trauma and emergency general surgery, Dr. Grudziak specializes in diseases of the abdominal wall, including inguinal, umbilical, incisional and parastomal hernias, as well as enterocutaneous fistulas. She believes in a patient-centered approach to surgery, and enjoys being able to bring an improved quality of life to her patients. When needed, she coordinates a complete pre- and post-surgical plan, incorporating weight loss specialists, diabetes care, smoking cessation strategies, and physical therapy approaches to prepare patients for their surgeries and ensure their complete recovery.

    Dr. Grudziak sees patients and operates at both the Main Hospital and South Jordan locations.

    Dr Grudziak explained things well, asked questions and listened attentively. She explained the procedure and gave me a timeline of recovery. All of this was done in a way that I didn't feel rushed but valued as a partner in my heath decisions.
