Joseph L Sanchez, MD, grew up in Belen, New Mexico, and has found his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He completed his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of New Mexico. His medical interests include caring for underserved patient populations, especially caring for those with developmental and physical disabilities.
Dr. Sanchez is passionate about working with medical trainees and helping to shape the future of medicine. His medical philosophy is rooted in helping to care for his older sister, Kierstin Marie Sanchez, who had many developmental and physical disabilities. He became a physician to care for people like her, to be surrounded by a group that finds joy in the smallest of gestures and taught him the healing power of kindness.
His hobbies include walking his dogs, cooking and baking, and outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. Dr. Sanchez desires to work with his patients and their caretakers to bring a sense of belonging, and to help people know they do not face the world alone.
