  • Dr. Yii Chun (Mary) Khiew is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah Hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree at Boston University where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Health Sciences. Subsequently, she received her medical degree from the National University of Ireland in Galway, Ireland. She completed her internal medicine residency training at University of Pennsylvania - Pennsylvania Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and a subspecialty fellowship in Advanced Transplant Hepatology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She is currently board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and board certification in Transplant Hepatology.

    She enjoys treating adults with a wide range of liver conditions including viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, metabolic liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, cirrhosis with complications related to portal hypertension, in addition to patients with benign and malignant liver lesions. As a transplant hepatologist, she also provides complex care to patients awaiting liver transplant, as well as care to patients after receiving a liver transplant.

    Her academic and clinical interests include alcohol related liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplant medicine and is dedicated to improving access to hepatology care. Aside from direct patient care, Dr. Khiew is also an avid medical educator and enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

    Outside of medicine, Dr. Khiew enjoys hiking and the outdoors, traveling, dog rescue, and women's sports.

    She is a native speaker/fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
