  • Dr. Wever-Pinzon is an Associate Professor of Medicine and is the Cardiac Director, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program Center of Excellence. He received his medical degree from the University of Panama. Dr. Wever-Pinzon completed his Internal Medicine Residency, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center-University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. In 2010, he joined the Cardiology Investigator track at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he completed his training in Cardiovascular Disease. In 2015, he completed his training in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.

    Dr. Wever-Pinzon's primary clinical and academic interests are focused on the development of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program at the University of Utah. The goals of this program are to improve the clinical management of patients with this unique condition and to advance the understanding of this inherited cardiac disease through collaborative research efforts.

    I must preface my remarks by stating I really like Dr.Omar. My virtual and in person visits prior to the one on October 20, 2022 have all been very positive. The visit on October 20 was not a particularly good one for me. There was a 96-hour staff failure to call In two prescriptions I was supposed to start Immediately. The results of my echocardiogram were not available to Dr. Omar, but I believe St. Al's was at fault for this failure. Not having the results meant Dr. Omar was uninformed about my current condition in regards to the drug I am taking. There are many hoops that must be jumped thru to get a refill of my specialty pharmacy black box prescription. I wasn't able to make the final jump until the afternoon of October 25, and the med Is supposed to be delivered on October 26. My husband and I are leaving on a long-planned 2-week vacation departing in the early morning hours of October 27. I am definitely not in my comfort zone to have the drug delivered this close to our de
