August 27, 2024MORAN EYE CENTERRachel Simpson simply reiterated that the source of pain surrounding my right eye is not understood (which is a valid thing to say) and that I should put eye moistening drops in four times a day. No real explanation was given for this other than that people in Utah generally have dry eyes. The connection with the pain was not clear. She helpfully did an ultra sound of my left eye when I mentioned my optometrist's concern about a tugging on the macula, even though this was not the purpose of the meeting. She then quickly reeled off the name of an over-the-counter vitamin and said it would be in the report given to me to take home. The 2015 research review says that high doses of zinc, Vitamin C, E and beata -carotene could reduce maclular degeneration progress. and another saying lutein/xeazanthin might do the same. And then she says "Please start taking Ocuvite" and I looked that up and it says it's largely Vitamin D. ???. She moved quickly pronouncing that I have macular degeneration
