Dr. Theodore “TJ” Hartridge is an emergency physician and Assistant Professor at the University of Utah with clinical and teaching expertise in wilderness medicine, avalanche rescue, and emergency care in remote environments. His background includes more than two decades of professional ski patrol work and extensive involvement in mountain rescue education, which informs his focus on hypothermia, frostbite, airway management, and patient care in austere settings.

He serves as a Learning Community Coach for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, Assistant Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency, and Assistant Fellowship Director for Wilderness Medicine, where he develops and delivers curricula for medical students, residents, fellows, EMS providers, and search'and'rescue teams. His teaching spans procedural training, clinical reasoning, and backcountry decision'making, with particular emphasis on avalanche resuscitation and community outreach. He additionally serves as a Snowbird Ski Patrol physician and Attending in the Snowbird Clinic.

Dr. Hartridge’s academic interests include cold'weather physiology, avalanche medicine, and decision'making in wicked learning environments in both clinical and wilderness contexts. His work aims to improve safety, education, and patient outcomes in high'risk and resource'limited environments.
