  • Valerie Mey, MS, RDN, CSOWM, CD is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a Master's of Science Degree in Sports Nutrition from the University of Utah. She has a certified specialty in obesity and weight management, skilled training with eating disorders and sports performance nutrition. She spent most of her childhood in Arlington, Virginia and Park City, Utah. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and International Studies from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. She has extensive experience with nutrition counseling and presentations to various ages and people with health diagnoses. In addition to seeing patients, Valerie acts as the Outpatient Clinical Nutrition Manager for the University of Utah Health. She has a passion to help all individuals see the importance of nutrition and healthy habits to live a healthier and happier life now and into the future. She believes in food flexibility and having a positive relationship with all foods. In her free time, Valerie enjoys being active outdoors, teaching and taking fitness classes, spending time with her friends, family and fun-loving dogs, baking muffins and watching college basketball.

    Valerie currently oversees the coordination of the NEW You and NEW You(th) Programs. The NEW You Program focuses on Nutrition, Exercise and Wellness. Using the latest research, learn to eat healthier, be more active, and lose weight. The NEW You program has shown improvements in A1C or blood sugar levels, heart health lab results, decreases in hip and waist circumference, increased energy, better sleep and stress management and overall weight loss to help manage and prevent further health issues! The NEW You(th) Program is aimed for youth ages 12-18 with the same values as the NEW You Program and modified to this age group to learn and choose to eat nutritious foods, be more active and create healthier habits now and into the future.
