Temperatures have already soared into the triple digits this summer. "Heat exhaustion is a condition where your body is overheated due to high temperatures outside, dehydration and overexertion," says Scott McIntosh, MD, an emergency room physician at University of Utah Health.
The four best ways to prevent heat exhaustion are:
- Avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
- Limit outdoor activities and take breaks.
- Hydrate before, during and after exposure.
- Wear light-colored, breathable clothing.
