Mental Health Crisis Care Center
Huntsman Mental Health Institute Crisis Care Center is a 24/7 walk-in care facility for emergency mental health conditions. We treat adults ages 18 and up.
The Crisis Care Center is a national best practice in mental health crisis care. The building was designed to help patients and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure.
Our researchers work alongside clinicians to develop new, evidence-based practices for treatment and care. The Crisis Care Center is also a teaching site for University of Utah students who study social work, nursing, psychology, psychiatry, and many more

Mental Health Crisis Services & Treatments
Anyone can walk-in to the Crisis Care Center during a psychiatric crisis for supportive, respectful care in a calm and secure environment. Upon arrival, you will be assessed by a care provider and evaluated for immediate stabilization.
We also provide the following treatments and services for adults in crisis:
- Inpatient care
- Outpatient services
- Medication-assisted treatment for chemical dependency
- Mental health-focused and recovery-focused intensive outpatient care
- Case management
- Access to legal and dental services in collaboration with our community partners
Crisis Care Center Costs
We provide crisis stabilization to any adult regardless of their ability to pay. There is no bill for these emergency stabilization services. Other outpatient and inpatient services at the Crisis Care Center operate on standard insurance and patient billing models and you may receive a bill. We offer on-site financial counseling to connect patients to eligible insurance coverage and help them navigate payment plans for these other services.
