Utah surgeon treats Swedish girl with rare epilepsy; first child from Europe to receive brain implant

SALT LAKE CITY — Four years ago, Edith Mölstad was a perfectly healthy 7-year-old Swedish girl who loved school and her friends. Then she suddenly developed a severe, rare form of epilepsy. Back in 2017, Edith was only two weeks into the school year when her father got a call from her teacher saying that Edith was sick and had a fever.
