During the COVID-19 pandemic, University of Utah Health has taken extensive measures to ensure all patients, visitors, and staff are safe. As part of those efforts, U of U Health has instituted a formal policy for universal face coverings (masking). Patients are encouraged to bring their own face covering to wear during their visit.
To ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, everyone entering U of U hospitals and clinics must wear a face covering or mask. The CDC advises the use of cloth masks to slow the spread of th virus and reduce the risk of transmission. Inidividuals are also asked to physical distance by keeping 6 feet from others, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, frequently wash their hands, and stay home if sick.
University of Utah Health is also ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and staff in the following ways:

- Contact-less registration and checkout
- Limited visitor policy
- Physical distancing guidelines placed throughout all phases of care
- Enhanced cleaning practices
- Strict hand-washing compliance
