  • Dr. Jones is a pulmonary and critical care physician with a research focus on understanding and improving decision-making in pneumonia. Her work combines three informatics methods – population analytics, qualitative inquiry of cognitive behavior, and clinical decision support – to examine mechanisms of variation in diagnosis and treatment and develop paths to improvement across the VA and University of Utah health systems. As a clinician, she has sought to practice in diverse settings to experience the challenges of adapting our understanding of disease and evidence-based practice to different environments and patients. As a researcher, the inclusion of diverse settings and patients is central to her work. In developing approaches that allow us to learn from clinical experience, Dr. Jones aim to contribute evidence and solutions that can best support excellent patient care in all settings.
