  • Laura Burton, MS, APRN, FNP-BC, CDE, is a nurse practitioner at the Utah Diabetes Center. As a nurse practitioner, her clinical interests include endocrinology; specifically diabetes and thyroid disorders.

    Philosophy:

Diabetes is a growing concern in the United States and worldwide. It is identified in many forms: type 1, which is an absolute insulin deficiency; type 2 which is marked by insulin resistance and decreased insulin production; latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult (LADA); mature onset diabetes of the young (MODY) and gestation diabetes (GDM). These should be treated early and aggressively to prevent or delay the progression of complications related to diabetes. My goal is to teach and empower the patient to manage their diabetes.
