Dr. Aoki has great bedside manner and I trust him a lot. My only complaint is that I felt rushed because I waited so long and I knew he was behind schedule. He did take time to answer my questions but the total time with him was less than 10 minutes, but I guess with a post op appointment thats all you need?

Dr Aoki, Reed, Angel, and staff are AMAZING!! Dr. Aoki is sympathetic and truly a gift. After surgery, he was leaving the surgical center at the same time I was trying to get into my vehicle for the long trip home. Dr Aoki could have walked on by, but instead he stopped and helped position me in the vehicle. Ive been to a lot of doctors, but no one like him!!! Dr. Aoki truly cares about his patients. Actions speak louder than words, Dr. Aoki had both going for him! Simply puy, HES AWESOME!!!!

As an RN myself, I was blown away by the whole experience from the first interaction in checking in to going to the exam room with the medical assistant to the doctor's exam and explaination of his findings and what he felt like was the best course of action for my particular orthopedic problem. A truly exceptional medical practice.

UofU Patient
September 26, 2017
Felt like the physician was rushed and explaining information to my 15 year old that was not at a level of her understanding. Minimal interaction with parent, physician was commenting to ATC for documentation but not really involved with patient and parent. As a physical therapist, I was not impressed with the wait and limited time with the provider, although I do have confidence in the providers skills. I feel that an initial appointment should be on time and more extensive. I have no problem waiting for an hour and a half for a provider that I respect and have seen previously and I know that I value their skills. After an hour and a half wait, I don't feel like I can give the provider a fair assessment because of poor scheduling making the parent and patient unhappy prior to ever seeing the provider.

June 26, 2017
Dr. Aoki is incredible. Not only is he the best surgeon at what he does and is obviously very intelligent/knowledgeable, but his bedside manner is wonderful. He really cared about my situation and was so kind and friendly. Reed is awesome, too. He is so willing to answer any questions I email/call him with. They are an awesome team.

UofU Patient
June 24, 2017
I continue coming to Dr Aoki because he knows hips and stays up to date on things, but I've learned that he likes to get through quickly and if I don't really speak up and make him stop and listen to all of your concerns/questions. I've started using MyChart to ask my questions. If I had to choose a dr like Dr Aoki or one who was great listening to all my concerns and taking that time in office, but they weren't as knowledgeable...I'd choose Dr Aoki, but I'd still like him to slow down.

UofU Patient
June 17, 2017
I like Dr. Aoki. Main criticism would be the patient sees the MA, then sports trainer, then MD & also fills out forms. Seems like they allask the same questions--would be good to review things so the patient doesn't have to answer questions over & over.

UofU Patient
June 11, 2017
even though this was a post op follow up visit; the doctor kept saying "this is what we're going to do.." several times. I also couldn't tell what the 2 different x-rays he kept pointed at were - was one from before the surgery and the other the one we took that day?

UofU Patient
May 27, 2017
Dr. Aoki is very, very kind & thoughtful. Never rushed.

UofU Patient
May 22, 2017
I was very impressed with Dr Steven Aoki. The instructions he gave me were reassuring that hip surgery was not needed which was a concern of mine. the last hip surgeon I seen scheduled hip replacement November 2014. I did not feel any type of hip surgery was needed so canceled it after meeting with an orthopedic surgeon in Park City. However the previous hip surgeons report states he was the one who told me surgery was not needed . I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to have been able to meet with Dr Stephen Aoki.

UofU Patient
May 18, 2017
Dr Aoki usually is thorough and takes time to listen, but the appt he seemed very busy. I scheduled the appt to look at my left knee and he spent more time looking at how my R hip has been doing, which I'm glad he did, but I was there for some possible ideas for my knee. In the end I had to remind him as he was walking out the door that I needed some ideas on my knee. he gave me an answer that made sense and ordered a brace for me after I asked if that was a possibility, but he definitely seemed rushed the whole appt.

UofU Patient

My experience with Dr. Aoki was the best that I have had with a doctor. He was pleasant, kind and courteous. He explained my condition, options, and procedure thoroughly. Doc Aoki took time away from his family and other patients to perform a surgery for my son who needed immediate attention. He came in on a day in which he normally doesn't do surgeries to be able to help my son. He is an outstanding doctor and willing to help those in need who really need his help immediately like my 12 year old did. He truly cares about his patients and his profession. Thank you Doc Aoki!

UofU Patient
October 23, 2016
Dr. Aoki is the best! He is very knowledgable and displays extreme confidence in decision making regarding the best treatment for our son. After only meeting him during a single appointment time, I knew we had brought our son to the right facility for treatment. We are extremely grateful for his talent and compassion. He is our "Angel"! Anticipating along travel home, Dr. Aoki calmed my concerns by personally calling a physician in our home state for follow up. At this time I knew our son would heal. We greatly look forward returning in 2-3 months to see him again. Thank you!!!!

UofU Patient

Dr. Aoki is brilliant and very likeable. I felt very comfortable having him operate on her knee.

UofU Patient
July 18, 2016
I met with Dr. Aoki after having a 45 minute MRI. I had already had about 5-6 X-rays ordered by Dr. Petron, and then Dr. Aoki ordered 5-6 more. I returned to the exam room and met Dr. Aoki immediately after. I do not know how he could have had enough time to review the MRI and the most recent X-rays before he told me my condition was atypical and he wanted me to come back for a cortisone shop. I would like to have more time with Dr. Aoki reviewing my x-rays and MRI.

UofU Patient

I appreciate Dr Aoki's diagnostic skills, his ability to explain the diagnosis and his unhurried manner though I know his schedule is packed with patients. Dr. Aoki was running a little behind, but I didn't mind because once he got to us, he spent as much time as we needed and wasn't hurried or impatient and answered all our question. He was great!

With the exclusion of 2 other long-term care providers, I have more confidence in Dr. Aoki than any other doctors I've ever seen. His mannerisms, his reputation, and his ability to explain what needs to be done are all three reasons that Dr. Aoki invokes confidence! He is terrific and I am having an amazing recovery!

August 18, 2015
Dr. Aoki is by far the best Dr I have ever been to hands down. He has always explained everything to me very well and went over all of my options. He has never made me feel like my issues with my hip were insignificant. He has also been very supportive of me getting back to my sport and tries to put himself in my shoes even though he really has no experience with my sport. This makes recovery so much better having a Dr that cares enough to understand.

August 12, 2015
Over all the appointment was much better then I expected. I understand that this is a learning hospital but I would have preferred to just speak to the Dr. instead have being evaluated by the student first, but under the circumstances and the way the entire visit went it was ok. I left the appointment feeling very about the visit and it eased my mind as to the steps we needed to take next.

I forgot to ask about having Dr.Aoki tell me about the X-Rays. I had a list of questions I don't think we got through all of them. He was very nice and seemed to know a lot about my condition. He did an exam of how well my joint moved and pushed me but didn't push me to pain. He knew the measurements without the help of a tool which was impressive. It was the best orthopedic appointment I have ever had and I've been to 6 different doctors, 3 different states, and have been going to Orthopaedic doctors for at least 6 years.

Dr. Aoki opens the door and smiled at me. He knows the level of pain and that I have been suffering for many years. I have seen him several times prior, trying to see if hip revision surgery might be the answer. After exhausting everything else. Dr. Aoki was is not a surgeon with a big ego. He is a humble but very intelligent man. I have done my research on him as I am an investigator. He does 300 FAI surgeries a yr. I had a list of questions, that neither fazed him nor got him irritated as do many doctors do not like you to question them. He spent the time I needed to feel good about my up coming revision fai hip surgery. Please note: Dr. Aoki did NOT do my first one.

I think I understand my options. My complaint is that I was asked if my pain was tolerable. It is obviously tolerable. It is better than it was during the summer, and I have tolerated it up until now. A better question might be whether it is an acceptable level of pain. It isn't. Nor is the limitation on activity. But I was able to schedule an injection which I hope will help, because the pain level is still sufficient to interfere with sleep, and NSAIDS do not remedy that. Hiking, yoga, working with my dogs, and sex are difficult because of pain during and after, so those activities are less enjoyable. So I am hoping the injection will help!

My boyfriend and I liked Dr. Aoki regarding his manner. Dr. Aoki approach to only doing a revision after further diagnostic injection has been done. Dr. Aoki explanation that he could go in but it is more difficult if not a clearer picture of what is causing pain. Explained hip replacement there is no going back. Dr. Aoki was very humble. Not jumping on doing surgery until further testing which I had already had scheduled from another doctor. Dr. Aoki was very respectful regarding other physician I have seen regarding hip issue. Only huge frustration is Dr. Aoki follow up schedule is so far out. Five weeks until I see him.

I would highly recommend Dr. Aoki to anyone and everyone. I was referred to him because I was informed he is the best hip surgeon in Utah. He was on time to the appointment, and he spent a lot of time with me. He explained to me what my condition was through a youtube video, with a model, by showing me my radiology images, and by explaining it to me in simple and clear words. He also provided me with a resource pamphlet so I could read more. He answered my questions completely, and he was extremely courteous. After explaining to me my condition, he asked me what I thought about the treatment he proposed. I really appreciated him asking me about my feelings and honestly caring about them. He promptly set me up with Frankie to arrange a time for surgery, and he followed up with me and my primary care physician over the phone about my condition and the surgery. I feel like he spent plenty of time with me explaining my condition, and I have complete confidence in his abilities and his judgment. I think he is an incredible doctor and an amazing person. I am so glad that I was referred to Dr. Aoki!

I could not say enough great things about Dr. Aoki! He is the best doctor I've ever had. He has a wonderful bedside manner and seems like he legitimately cares about your welfare. He remembers you as a person and not just patient #473. He "fixed" me after I had spent over six months seeing multiple other providers who couldn't give me a reasonable answer. The others just sent me to physical therapy, acting as though there was nothing wrong with me because I was too young to have real hip problems. But Dr. Aoki took my complaints seriously, and diagnosed my problem within 20 minutes of seeing me. I think my favorite thing about Dr. Aoki is his attitude towards my recovery: he had realistic expectations for me and didn't tell me just to quit doing certain activities all together (which other doctors HAVE told me to do). He wanted me to be able to do the things I enjoy and even encouraged it, as long as I feel comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Aoki!

Dr. Aoki made me feel like a friend, not just a patient. He is very skilled and knowledgable. I think he is a great Surgeon, very good at people skills.

At the high prices we pay for medical help, a person should be able to see a doctor at the appointed time, as well as not feel like since they are behind they are rushing you along.

Dr. Aoki is the best. He took time to find out how i was doing, how my orthopedic problem was doing, and then he addressed new concerns. He did a physical exam and gave me excellent diagnostic approach to my problem.

Dr. Aoki is great; I would gladly recommend him to anyone. He is the third surgeon I have seen for my condition and he is the only one I have full confidence in. I wish his schedule permitted me to have my surgery in less than 90 days, however.
