Danielle Roussel, MD is Associate Professor, Clinical in the Department of Anesthesiology and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She received her BS degree in Chemical Engineering, BA degree in English, and MD degree at the University of Kansas. She completed a pediatrics internship and anesthesiology residency at the University of Utah. She is board certified in Anesthesiology. She joined the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah in 2004. Her academic interest is in undergraduate medical education.
Dr. Roussel is the Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum in the School of Medicine with responsibility for pre-clerkship clinical curriculum, the clerkship curriculum, and the senior medical student required and elective clinical curriculum. In addition to this current role, Danielle previously served on the Curriculum Implementation Committee responsible for development of an integrated new curriculum. She has also served as course director for a number of pre-clerkship and elective curriculum courses including: Pharmacology, the Cardiovascular/Pulmonary/Renal organ system course, Evidence Based Medicine, and the Anesthesiology Elective. In each of these roles she developed innovative curricula to promote content mastery and student development of self-direction and adaptability. To further develop her skills as a medical educator, Dr. Roussel has completed the Medical Scholars Program, the Society for Education in Anesthesiology’s multi-day Workshop on Teaching, and three of the AAMC Medical Education Research Certificate Workshops. She was selected as an inaugural member of the University of Utah's Academy of Health Sciences Educators in 2013.
