Rachel Weir, MD, Associate Professor (Clinical), is the Chief of Mental Health Integration for the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) and U Health. In this role, Dr. Weir oversees a variety of efforts, including those that improve mental health screening, follow-up, and access to care for patients with depression. Additionally, she is working to further mental health integration and Collaborative Care throughout the health system and providing physician leadership for the Zero Suicide initiative.

Dr. Weir has helped implement psychiatric services across clinics, and educates residents on primary care focused consultation models. She helped found CALL-UP, the statewide child psychiatry access program, and also served as the psychiatry lead for implementation of the Collaborative Care model in primary care. She is the founder and physician provider at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute's Consult Clinic, where primary care providers can obtain access to a clinical consultation for their patients in a timely manner. She is a consultant to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), with a focus on the use of technology to develop innovative approaches and facilitate access to integrated mental health care.

Dr. Weir promotes the regular use of outcome measures in psychiatry and stresses the importance of measurement based care approaches in improving outcomes for populations with depression. Clinically, she holds an interest in PTSD and the impact that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have on physical and mental health outcomes, and is board-certified by the ABPN in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
