  • Kristin E. Barber, NP, graduated magna cum laude with a master's of nursing degree from the University of Utah in 2009. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau honors society. She received her bachelors of science in nursing cum laude from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2003. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) since 2009. She is proud to be both an ongoing member of the Oncology Nursing Society since 2004 and previously sat on the committee of our local ONS chapter in Utah, Intermountain Chapter of Oncology Nurses (ICONS). She has over 15 years of experience taking care of oncology patients in both solid tumors and hematologic cancers. She currently focuses in GI oncology. Kristin is a sub investigator on multiple clinical trials. Since her focus is in GI cancers it is important to incorporate clinical trials to advance our knowledge and treatment of these patients and improve upon their outcomes.

    Kristin has served on multiple speakers bureau's focusing on education of other oncology nurses in the treatment and management of certain cancers including lung, multiple myeloma, breast and lynch positive cancers. She loves to speak and learn amongst her colleagues and regularly attends national conferences keeping up to date in current literature and practices.

    Kristin loves both taking care of patients and spending time outdoors. She is always ready to help and when she is not at Huntsman you can find her on the ski slopes or out on her mountain bike. Originally from Chicago, she moved to the mountains of Utah in 2005 to spend time outside and could not have picked a more perfect place.

    Kristen is such a smart, caring individual. Answers all my questions in addition to my children's questions as they always come with me to go over test results. I am very comfortable with Kristen. I feel very comfortable with Kristen and go away from appointments with the knowledge that I am in gareat hands.

    Kristen was very kind and well prepared. She made time to meet BJ's needs. She spent a lot of time discussion the plan, the process, the possible side effects, the ways we could help to mitigate some of them as well as what to look for. She answered all of our questions, she had the pharmacist come in and review the medications we would be using as well as how to reach her team, how to get the medications and follow up. We left there able to know and understand all options and timing.
