Shane Thoreson, DPT, is a key provider for the Running Injury Clinic at the University of Utah. He currently spends most of his clinical time treating injured runners through evidence-based techniques developed to analyze running gait mechanics. These techniques include running gait analysis with 2-D video, assessment of muscle activity with surface EMG, and measurement of kinematics and kinetics with 3-D goniometry and the use of a force plate treadmill. The data collected using these tools is then analyzed as a whole to provide targeted interventions unique to each individual athlete. Using his knowledge of biomechanics and recognition of the optimal outcomes gained from 2-D video analysis, Shane was also instrumental in developing the Golfing Injury Clinic at the University. He is certified to provide golf-specific physical screens and golf swing analysis through the Titleist Performance Institute.
