  • Dr. Jason Glotzbach is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Utah. While his clinical practice spans all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, he has a special interest in aortic disease. Dr. Glotzbach received his undergraduate degree in History from Princeton University and his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery training at the University of North Carolina and cardiothoracic surgery training at Columbia University. Dr. Glotzbach joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2016.

Dr. Glotzbach serves as the Co-Director of the University of Utah Aortic Disease Program, which is a multidisciplinary team assembled to treat patients with all types of aortic pathology, including aortic dissection and aortic aneurysm, utilizing both traditional open surgery and endovascular stent-graft procedures. He has a particular interest in congenital bicuspid aortic valve disease and connective tissue disorders, such as Marfan Syndrome. Dr. Glotzbach also specializes in structural heart valve disease, and is a member of the multi-disciplinary transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) team. He has significant expertise in performing minimally invasive surgery for valve repair, valve replacement and aortic reconstruction.

Dr. Glotzbach has a strong interest in clinical and translational research related to aortic disease. He participates in several research projects investigating the genetic basis of aortic aneurysms and dissections. In addition, Dr. Glotzbach is a Principal Investigator of the TAVR low-risk trial, which is studying the outcomes of surgical aortic valve replacement as compared to transcatheter aortic valve replacement. He has published extensively in many areas of the basic science and surgical literature.
