  • Amanda Gerlach, DMD, MDS specializes in cleft, craniofacial, special care orthodontics. She has extensive clinical experience treating complex orthodontic cases, including patients with cleft lip and palate and various craniofacial anomalies.

    Dr. Gerlach completed a fellowship in craniofacial orthodontics at the Cleft-Craniofacial Center at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She also earned a certificate in cleft, craniofacial, and special care orthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Plastic Surgery.

    Dr. Gerlach received the American Association of Orthodontics award for Exceptional Interest in the Development of the Oro-Facial Complex. In addition, she served as the chief resident for the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

    Dr. Gerlach’s research interests include:

    • Speech outcomes and VPI in patients with cleft lip and palate
    • Empathy in dentist and dental specialists

    Dr. Gerlach earned her bachelor’s degree in business and life sciences from Juniata College, followed by a doctorate degree in dental medicine from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona. She then completed an orthodontics residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, earning a master’s degree in addition to a certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.

    Dr. Gerlach enjoys an active lifestyle, spending time with friends and family, hiking and exercising, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
