Dr. James McConnell is from the Northern California and has been part of the Utah dental community since 1999. He and his wife Barbie were married over thirty-five years ago and are the parents of eight children. Their three oldest, Jamie, Sam, and Meredith graduated from Grantsville and Stansbury High School. Jamie attended BYU and received his Dental Degree from Roseman University. Sam attended BYU and received his dental degree from the University of Utah and his post doctoral training in dental anesthesiology at Jacobi/Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Their 4th child, Grace, was adopted from China in 2004. She is a dental hygienist in Stansbury Park. Their daughter Sophie was adopted in 2010 from Inner Mongolia, She is in high school along with her other siblings, Bryn, Seth and Fil, and they were adopted from Ethiopia in 2013 Bulgaria in 2022, respectively.
Currently, he teaches full time at the Univerity of Utah, School of Dentistry, where he loves the interactions with the students and faculty that learn and teach there.
Some of Dr. McConnell’s hobbies include fly fishing, travel, and being with his family.
