  • Dr. Pickett is an Assistant Professor and EMS Fellowship Director for the University of Utah. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief Deputy Medical Director for the City of Austin for 6 years and was an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. Before his time in Austin, he was the Director of the Center for Prehospital and Operational Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Pickett is a member of the Guidelines and Practice Committee for the National Association of EMS Physicians and is also a member of the Guidelines Committee for the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. Dr. Pickett is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Subspecialty Board Certified in Emergency Medical Services. He is a Battalion Surgeon in the West Virginia Army National Guard and has extensive overseas deployment experience. Dr. Pickett's teaching interests are prehospital care, specialized technical rescue, tactical medicine, and advanced resuscitation in austere environments.
