Andrea McInerny, MD

Dr. McInerny is an Assistant Professor within the Division of Pediatric Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah. Dr. McInerny earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. She completed her residency in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as well as a chief year in Pediatrics at UMass Medical School-Baystate in Springfield, Massachusetts before completing her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. McInerny also received her Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at the University Of Utah. She is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as General Pediatrics and is board eligible for Pediatric Gastroenterology.

In addition to caring for patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal disorders, Dr. McInerny is a physician within the Nutrition Center which provides comprehensive nutritional care for patients who may be struggling to gain weight, those requiring tube feedings, and those requiring IV nutrition. She sees patients at Primary Children’s Eccles Outpatient Services Building and at Primary Children’s Outpatient Services at Riverton.

Dr. McInerny has clinic and research interests in nutrition, growth, gastrostomy tubes (Gtubes), transitions of care, as well as clinical quality improvement.
